Absolutely essential Kyushu noisecore here! probably one of the best noisecore demos from that era, to me it's on par with Confuse's Indignation demo (best demo tape of all time)...for some reason the band later transitioned into a poppier less abrasive sound (see Pinch And Ouch! compilation) along with many other of their contemporaries

This tape is a crucial part of the Kyushu punk puzzle and it's a shame that it's somewhat over looked and in dire need of a reissue, if Confuse, Sieg Heil and Gai's demos get nice vinyl reissues why can't Gess or even No-Cut get the same?

Gess' vocalist Fanny later went on to sing in Lydia Cats playing more of a beat punk sound and more recently N.I.R.I.C, some other Gess members also supposedly went on to play in the great Desperate Children, but i'm not sure who...

Rotozaza/Merciless Game - Destroy Noise/Attack Noise Hero

A great pairing of two underated USA noisecore weirdos here

this came out in 2007 (I think) and slipped totally under the radar and only made into the hands of the nerdiest of noise fans, which is a shame as I think it's great!
Rotozaza disgrace the corpse of Atrocious Madness with 4 noisy almost crasher crust attacks ripped from their 14 track demo.
Merciless Game is a (former?) one man band by Zach of xBraniax fame, here Zach just delivers 4 more noisecore bombs in the vein of Dust Noise/Screaming Noise/Gai etc etc...there's also a perfectly executed cover of Confuse's Merciless Game. SPHC will soon drop the Merciless Game 8" which now features Kamikaze Dan of Lotus Fucker and Kenny from Chaos Destroy and it's seriously great! make sure to catch them on their upcoming US tour this Feb

There's something charming about this pairing, maybe it's the fact they're totally uncool and under appreciated, or maybe it's the fact Rotozaza aren't cliche in the slightest...or maybe it's the great Confuse cover by Zach, who cares...this record is great and so was the MRR review!

Saber M - Drinking With Jesus

Since the last few posts have been at the noisier ended of the punk spectrum I thought this post i'd give you some pogo, after all this blog is a mainly pogo punk blog

Here I bring you my 2nd ever release, the great Saber M!
I first heard these drunkards when I was searching for bands to put on the Pogo Punx On Strike compilation CD-R I released 2 or 3 years ago and I stumbled across the myspace of Saber M, needless to say after hearing their cover of Pogo Machine's 'Pogo or Die' and La M's own anthem 'Pogo And Beer' I knew I wanted to release more of their stuff, and that's where this CD-R comes in, almost straight after the release of Pogo Punx On Strike the band told me they had a new bunch of demo recordings which eventually became the 'Drinking With Jesus' CD-R EP on Pogo Punx Records
On this recording you get 7 tracks of total drunk pogo punk mayhem in the vein of Shit-Faced and Pig Food, with some almost rock n roll guitar and great drum rolls and catchy as fuck songs (just listen to the pop hook at the end of Mr.Big!) admittedly the recording itself is rehearsal quality but who fucking cares? grab yourself the best EP of the best Pogo Punk band to come out of the USA!!

The band still plays, albeit only once or twice a year due to their singer/guitarist being in the Navy but here's hoping to a new EP when he returns.

One day I hope The Injections can be this good

Interview with THE ERECTiONS from Tokyo
Originally from Hiroshima, the band represents traditional punk in its purest.

The area where I live in Tokyo used to be known for its visible punk scene, and even though most of the visibility has long gone, the punks are definitely still there: over half of my friends there play or sing in a punk band.

Having experienced a few gigs, I was convinced that my friend Kentaro's band THE ERECTiONS with its energetic music and image was the one that hit me hardest. It was what I, who knew practically nothing about this genre, found very traditional punk – not only the music, but also the members' appearance which includes colorful mohawks, ripped jeans and jackets decorated with studs.

On Halloween night, me and my few friends headed to Nishi-Ogikubo to enjoy music I still couldn't quite distinguish from plain noise, but am nevertheless very interested.

From the first time I saw THE ERECTiONS live, I could see they were clearly a live band. You just can't get all that energy and attitude that live gigs are full of from the songs' studio versions. Also this time, even though the live house was very small, the atmosphere was intense. The crowd seemed to like Noise for the Boys the best, and no wonder: it's a typical THE ERECTiONS song, energetic and refreshing without forgetting chaotic punk elements. On the setlist, there were also covers from The Ejected and BLITZ and a song where the guitarist Nakachin got a spotlight on vocals.

The line between the crowd and the band was vague, seeing how someone made a quick visit to the microphone while Nakachin was jumping around among the crowd. Anything goes is the way punk gigs seem to be, as expected!

After the gig it was time for an interview, and we gathered on the side of the road with the slightly drunk band members – nothing too fancy or organized, as expected!

Could you introduce yourselves and your positions in the band?
Kentaro: I'm the bassist and vocalist Kentaro.
Taka: Drummer, Taka.
Nakachin: I'm Nakachin, guitar.

What kind of punk music does THE ERECTiONS play?
Kentaro: The genre is called Oi! punk.

So does it differ from street punk?
Nakachin: Not really, but street punk includes various styles.
Kentaro: Many people like to categorize bands, but I think it's a pain in the ass.
Nakachin: Indeed.

What does “Oi!” mean?
Kentaro: It's kind of like “hey”.

When was THE ERECTiONS founded?
Kentaro: In 2002, in Hiroshima. Around 2008 the lineup was changed when I moved to Tokyo.

Where and how did you guys meet each other?
Kentaro: Me and Nakachin met in Hiroshima a long before THE ERECTiONS. At that time he played in a band called The Discocks, and I liked their music.
Taka: I lived in Tokyo then, and Kentaro used to come here every now and then, so we met at gigs and became friends.

Did you do gigs yourself then, Taka?
Taka: Yeah, I'd been in various bands before joining THE ERECTiONS. I liked them and used to go see their gigs before becoming their drummer.

Are there certain Japanese bands that have inspired you?
Nakachin: In my case, Blue Hearts.
Taka: The Discocks, Shit-faced... and many others.

What genre are those bands?
Taka: Pogo punk.
Kentaro: Many bands that have inspired Taka, have also inspired me, like The Discocks. I believe if they never existed, I wouldn't be playing in a band right now.

So when did The Discocks disband?
Nakachin: I think I was 20....
Kentaro: About 15 years ago.

What kind of music did you play in The Discocks, Nakachin?
Nakachin: It didn't differ much from THE ERECTiONS.
Kentaro: THE ERECTiONS is kind of a sequel for The Discocks.
Nakachin: Well, there is something different in those bands when you think about it... The sound is same but the atmosphere differs somehow.

Are there any western bands that inspired you?
Kentaro: There are many, but those that affected my composing... The Ejected from England, for example.
Taka: The Casualities from America. I used to listen to them and think they sounded cool.

What about you, Nakachin?
Nakachin: Yeah, something like that.
Kentaro: What do you mean “something like that”?!
(everyone laughs)
Nakachin: I had the same answer as you!

Which of you composes the music or do you work on it together?
Kentaro: There is only one song that has been composed during the current lineup. The music we play consists mainly on songs composed in Hiroshima with the members at that time.

What about your favourite song from THE ERECTiONS?
Kentaro: Noise for the Boys.
Taka: As for me... But I'm OK. And also... what was it again...
Kentaro: “What was it again”... (laughs)
Taka: How Stupid You Are.
Nakachin: Mine is the song where I sing. The new song.
Kentaro: That's the one we composed together.

What is it called?
Nakachin: Uh... Turn On Tune In Drop Out!

I like We Are the Firm.
Nakachin: Yeah, I wanted to say that too, but, afterall, the best one is the one where you get to sing, right?!
(everyone laughs)

All right, let's move to the last actual question: What color are your underpants?
Kentaro: (pulls out his boxers) Here here. Black.
Taka: Right now? Green. Black-green.
Nakachin: Green here too. Or maybe I should take a better look...

By all means. Lastly, do you have anything you want to say to the Finnish readers?
Nakachin: I like North-European punk even though I don't understand the lyrics! Oh, and please find my wallet, I lost it today...
Kentaro: Listen to THE ERECTiONS and come see us live!
Nakachin: And bring some Salmiakki koskenkorva (a Finnish liquor).

Spikie Armys - 1st Demo

I posted this a day and age ago but the link isn't there for one reason or another, anyway
here's the first demo tape from Chiba city chaos punx Spikie Armys! which is a great name
As far as I can tell this band existed between 2004 and 2007? this tape was released in 2006 and contains 5 noisy chaotic punk blasts ala Thought Control, Chaos C.H. and Stagnation's demo songs, noisy punk which some surprising parts for example one part of this demo has an almost pogo breakdown (which actually isn't too surprising as their guitarist was Yuri from 00 Squad!!) one other song I could've sworn was a Stagnation song aswell

There's also a Spikie Armys CD-R and they had some songs on the V.A. Punks Save The Cassette Tape Vol.2 comp (which I would love to hear if anyone has)

I haven't separated the tracks because i'm lazy

I can't beleive I haven't posted this before, absolutely bonkers noise punk split courtesy of Punk Dischord Records (run by an ex.Control member)
The ノーフューチャーズ (The No Futures) to me rival Stagnation and new Chaoschannel for their nutty guitar effects just check out the guitars in their song "Communication" what the hell is that weird 'bubbly' noise? beats me!

I can't even think of a band that compares to these, maybe Vaginors on speed with Stagnation's guitar player trying to do Sex Pistols and Very Best of Hero era Swankys rip offs

Th eSwindles deliver a different punk rock attack in the form of 2 Never Can Eat Swank Dinner era Swankys numbers meets '77 punk meets People meets Crack The Marian, the first song is a 5 minute almost pop dischord song that makes me want to bust moves all over the place! their next song Killer T.V. wouldn't seem out of place on The Swankys - Five Star EP or even the Pinch And Ouch comp LP with it's bouncy pogo riff and broken radio guitar sound

This split makes me want to wear a seditionaries shirt whist sneering like Johnny Rotten at people

There must be something in the water in Tsuyama because how can a small town have such a high concentration of great bands? here's the first and only demo from this post-Laukaus band
this demo is from 2007 or 2008 and has 6 songs in the vein of early 80's Swedish bands like The Bristles, Sotlimpa, Asta Kask meets current Japanese punk bands ala Skizophrenia & The Sick
vocal-wise this really does sound like Skizophrenia
it's quite a departure from Laukaus' finnish chaos punk sound but still pretty good
the song 'Preconception' sounds totally pogo as fuck! like Getter Robo covering Sabotage '81 or something, basically, Injections are gonna steal the riff from this song sometime

sometimes when i'm bored I like to flick through my records and find something i've forgotten about...and today I found this!
Here's the Disclapties/青椒肉絲 split CD from 2001
I guess this is one of Disclapties' first official releases and 青椒肉絲's only release?
I tried finding some information about 青椒肉絲 but all I could find is pictures of food so I guess they're named after some kind of food?..no shit sherlock
Anyway!
The Disclapties give 3 songs of their usual hyper pogo-pop-punk stupidness with Shun's trademark pots and pans drumming
青椒肉絲 play some kind of Japcore with some metallic riffs, I don't listen to enough of this kinda stuff to give reference points, but they sort of remind me of the crap japcore bands put out on Bastard Rock...whatever

this isn't essential, but I guess a few people would dig this

I'm too lazy to write anymore about this, i'm going to eat leftover christmas dinner..

Neutron Rats - Demo

I was reminded of this delightful piece of raw punk destruction after Kamikaze Dan mentioned them online and described them as something like "the best kept secret in raw punk" or something along those lines
I dug out the tape and was reminded of it's greatness and thought I must share this!

Absolutely devastating raw punk, not Nerveskade noisy fun boys raw punk..but raw in the sense that you just know their singer is tearing his throat apart doing these vocals, you end up thinking "Someone needs to get this chap a strepsil".
Not only is this guy tearing his throat to bits doing these vocals he's also avoiding the stupid Raw Punk = British Accent shit, I hate that, the UK isn't that cool
Musically it kinda makes me think Ultra-Violent covering early Anti-Cimex (you even get a bonus Anti-Cimex cover! along with an Exploited cover)
This tape sounds as if it was dubbed underwater, so excuse the bad quality, to piss you off even more I ripped it in amazing 128k and no tags on the mp3s! fuck you! PunK!

Bottom line is, if this was on No Beast So Fierce the post would be labelled "PUNK AS NAILS"

Sun Children Sun - Demo

Members of Vi-Vi Punx/Extintos playing retardo punk with saxophones?
Too fucking right!

If Extintos were Deathside
then Sun Children Sun is most certainly Paintbox
there is all sorts of influences being thrown about in this 11 track demo, and it's really quite difficult to put a finger on what to describe this as
At times it reminds me of Traitor from Japan with the tribal-esque drums over punk which then breaks down into almost hip hop style drum beats, all with jazzy saxophone all over the place
jo2 described these as "crazy"

It really is quite the earful and definitely worth a listen

There's a part in track 10 where they break into Richie Valens' La Bamba and when I heard that I immediately thought, I must share this demo!

Thankfully Tony stumbled across the band's bandcamp page where you can download the full demo in 320k mp3s or FLAC so I guess it's cool to share this

Chances are if you ask a punk in Japan who 'The Squatters' are they'll probably point you in the direction of those 2 Americans who are squatting in Koenji, but if you ask me! I shall surely say "Well sir, it's a bad street punk band from Japan who released a CD-r called Show Your Resistance"

I bought this CD-r from eBay (so punk!) as soon as I saw the description of "Japanese chaos punk with a UK82 feel, snot and spikes all the way!!! "
I thought to myself, I need this in my life...well we all make mistakes, as this band sucks
But it's worth a listen
It's definitely Street Punk done not so good. ala The Casualties Early Years CD
At times this even reminds me of those Thai street punk bands you might recognize from myspace e.g. Chaos Of Society & Anti System where the music isn't amazing but boy do those kids look punk as fuck!
The cover art of this CD-r as you can see features a mohawked punk with Anarchy tattoo smoking a cigarette nonchalantly to a soldier with a Nazi helmet and what seems to be a regular army uniform?
Obviously, smoking is showing your resistance
So if there's anything to be learned from this band it's smoke cigarettes as it will make you punk

I picked this CD-r demo up in Base a couple of months ago without hearing the band before, I just saw a pic of a spiky Japanese punk with an I Love Chaos UK patch and as you all know, I'm a sucker for spiky Japanese punk!

It actually surprised me how actually quite good this CD-r is, it's definitely Street Punk influenced which isn't that good, but the guitars man! the fuck'in geeetarzzz!!!!

I did not expect the guitars to be that noisy, or have any noisecore influence to them at all.

Parts of this demo remind me of Expose (82) if they were playing street punk. it also kinda reminds me of the later Drunk Boi!s stuff on the 'Noise Onslaught from Sapporo' CD

It's actually quite good, and worth a listen, maybe if it was shorter...say 4 or 5 songs I would enjoy it alot more

Also, the band just had a 3 way split CD out with No Survivors and Solpaatos, all young Niigata bands

Check all the usual suspects (Punk And Destroy, Base, Killers etc)

What we have here is probably my favourite Kruw release!
Now you're probably thinking "but this is The Resisted?"
Right?....Right!
Yes?...yes!

Remove that look of sheer disbelief from your face as here I present to you The Resisted's first demo!
The Resisted is basically Kruw, they even had some songs that Kruw re-recorded for The Punx 7"
While this demo may not be the best sounding demo in the world it's a cool listen, 7 tracks of the typical late 90's ~ Early 2000's Sakai City Chaos Punk sound, UK'82 via Japan type stuff
Their song on the Sabotage 2001 comp was one of the best songs on it and their side of The Poverties/Resisted split demo is fantastic (I'll upload that at some point too)

Here's the only? demo from obscure 90's noise punkers Catch 23
I got this from Evil Minded Tom after reading it was 90's noisepunk with a name stolen from a GBH song, 2 good things!

Musically it's typical 90's noisecore but with an obvious GBH influence...duh!
Really cool and underrated demo tape here!

Also, does the first song remind you of We Are Freak by Deride? or is it just me?
This seems like it would've fitted perfectly on the "Follow No Leaders" comp LP

Yet another hook up from Richie Rich (90's noisy hardcore for the masses, they had a 7" on Pogo 77 which Sean/DxNx uploaded so check it out,
I haven't listened to the 7" in ages, so I really don't remember what it sounds like, so i'm gonna steal a quote from Sean

I finally make my returned to putting up rips, sorry it took so long folks, I announced this triumphant return mere moments ago on facebook,
I'm just gonna post demos and out of print stuff, so nobody can trip about new releases being up here

We're half way into recording a new tape, which i'll release sometime soon this tape will have 3 new songs that we haven't played live yet

And if all goes to plan we might be played with Nekromantiker & The Wankys this October, this is likely to be one of our only UK shows ever!

So I have no job now, which means no money, which means theres no way I can afford to go to Canada in August for The Injections tour,
So sorry to the 2 people who were looking forward to an Injections show, maybe I can come back another time
Plus I don't think anyone would've liked us anyway haha,

I am waiting for The Wankys/Who Killed Spikey Jacket? tape to arrive from the pressing place, they should be here sometime next week I was hoping to have them for The Wankys gig in London on the 18th but problems with my paypal prevented me from ordering them as soon as i'd hoped
Record shop Base took 50 copies from me, and The Wankys took 20, the spares are all gone (this pressing was limited to 82....because we're punx!)

ありがとう Japan Punks! Part 2!

So after our Nagoya Attack!! we have to head back to Tokyo as we're playing tonight
We have to be at Zone-B for around 2pm, and we just got on the Shinkansen at 9:30
Again, I would comment on the journey but I slept for the most of it...I did eat Chip Star and change into a Discharge shirt if you're really wanting to know the details

After nearly 2 hours? on the train we finally arrive back in Tokyo

we have to change trains to get to Shinjuku to get back to our hotel to drop off our Nagoya shopping items and Melvin wants to spike his hair for the show

When we get back to the hotel I steal Melvin's laptop and as i'm feeling nostalgic all of sudden I start putting on music I liked when I was 12...

When Melvin finally finishes his hair (we take longer to get ready than Twisted Sister) we head on our way to Zone-B in Waseda

When we arrive at Zone-B we say "hello" to our friends and go downstairs where we catch the arse end of Dropend's soundcheck

Dropend is a new crust band who just had their demo released by Kotaro's NARM Discos label, they play sort of metallic noisy crust with dual vocals
After I tell them I knew their demo and liked it and they seemed really happy and excited about it
We set up and begin our soundcheck which goes surprisingly well, the sound is a hell of alot better than in the practice space we used on Friday and Melvin gets to use Nori's guitar which makes him super happy

When we finish soundchecking we go for some Yoshinoya, I end up at some Chinese place with Nori, Miyoshi and a bunch of others, at the chinese place Nori tries hooking me up with Fumi from The Bubbles, but no such luck (I wasn't complaining)

Punk And Disorderly are the first band on so we have to hurry back to Zone-B in time for their set, for those who don't know Punk And Disorderly is a band consisting of Nori, Nakachin, Kentaro and Hidenori, doing old punk covers and a few original...it's really tongue in cheek and fun so it's cool,
they cover The Strike, Kraut, Peter & Test Tube Babies and a few other songs

From now my memory is blurry, not due to drink...so who knows?
But i'll just "review" the bands anyway

Dropend!
These are a new crust band like mentioned earlier, I didn't get any pictures of them but Kotaro (NARM Discos) put a video on youtube

The Bubbles were next? I can't remember

But I do remember they were good live, really cool 77 style Punk rock like Stiff Little Fingers esque, I'm still selling their album so buy it from me! haha
Also by this time Toru was pretty drunk, and bantering with the crowd so it made the set that much more fun!

Fuck...right, Who was next?...Black & White?, yeah i'll go with Black & White
Ok! Black & White, this band I had no idea about, I thought they would sound like Swank Dinner era Swankys because of their name, but they just played 77 style punk with lots of sneering and Japanese Johnny Rottens
I really can't remember, Sorry kids
Their singer really reminded me of Swank Dinner era Watch
But after thinking, who else dresses like a Japanese Johnny Rotten in this day and age?
Then it hit me...The singer from No Futures!

Bottom line is, if we played with No Futures, i'd die a happy man

Back on subject now, I kinda remember the lineup from here

Next was The Erections, i'm sure of it (not really, but whatever this isn't MRR)
So Erections, are basically what The Discocks would sound like now if they kept playing their old style

I really like this band, really fun Oi! Punk with lot's of singalongs and spiky hair, Nakachin (ex.Discocks) now plays in these, so look out for their 7" this year it'll be the Oi! record of the year (which isn't hard as the competition consists of Old Firm Casuals *shudder* )

Now it was time for Vendetta, the band i'd been looking forward to seeing the most
Vendetta is ex.Intruders (Kodama & Akira) with my Japanese brother Kenta on guitar/vocals
Before they start Kodama takes chance to throw a huge cream cake in Kenta's face (I can only assume it's a tribute to The Damned and not because it's his birthday)
Not before long the stage and most of the people in the front row have cake on them somewhere and it turns into a sloppy pogo frenzy of people falling over each other, grabbing the mic and singing along
their music is the most perfect Riot City worship (even better than Intruders) just great shit!

I'm in love with this band already and it's only been 2 songs

Then in the midst of all these Riot City style hardcore songs they cover "Last Year's Youth" by Menace, i'm not a huge Menace fan but suddenly I knew all the lyrics and couldn't help but singalong, everybody at this point tears the place apart and invade the stage and steal the mic's
and all singing "Don't you know! we're Last year's youthhhhh"

By now I was fucking knackered, I talk a wander upstairs to the bar to find Meguro (our drummer) passed out but oh well, I suppose the drunker The Injections are the better!
I ask Teruaki (who was selling our shirts) how Injections shirts had been doing..."i've sold 8"
What the fuck? 8 shirts? really? and just as I say that, some cute girl comes up and buys one!
So now I have a new thing I dig, Girls in Injections shirts!

Not one to miss a good band I stroll downstairs in time for Avfall
I didn't really know what to think of Avfall before because all I heard was their split with Haava, and I prefered Haava
But Avfall ripped, their set destroyed
Finnish hardcore meets Hardcore hardcore meets noisy Hardcore in a trio of Hardcore delights
kids went crazy for these, their singer was stealing peoples hats, there was a scarf flying around
Totally awesome, but their split, but the Chaos Punks DVD with them on, book them in your town

Incase you didn't notice, i'm a terrible writer, these band write ups must seem like shit and not give anybody an idea of these bands
So buy their releases

Right, now was Tom And Boot Boys time

We all know Tom right?

So i'll comment on the antics, not the music
Nori and Miyoshi were both pretty drunk at this point, Miyoshi wears it well, but Nori is just funny when drunk

In between songs all he says is "Attack!"..."Attack Punk!!"
2 songs in he breaks a string (of the guitar Melvin is meant to use)
But have no fear! Kenta comes to the rescue with a spare guitar, all is well right?
No, few songs later another string breaks, but I don't think he notices plus the show must go on
They play a new song called "Oi!" which will be on their split 7" with Rough Stuff, the chorus was literally "Oi!"
throughout the set chants of "Noriyasu *clap clap clap* Noriyasu *clap clap clap* Noriyasu *clap clap clap*" had begin to start but he remained fully clothed, but on their last song Melvin finally gets to witness the stripping of Nori, not a good thing by any means, but hilarious none the less

Finally it was time for the last band, The Injections!
I was worried because we are terrible, and we were playing with so many good bands that it just made us seem like total shit
We open with our instrumental intro "We Are Injections" I stand at the side of the stage and watch as the room slowly begins to fill, which is promising as I thought nobody would dig us
We then do our cover of Instant Agony's "Working Class Victim" which makes everybody happy and they start singing along, then is our own song "Anarchy in Shimokitazawa Killers" a song stolen from Chaotic Dischord (but don't tell them!) again people singing along! which surprises me

Now is time for our most well known? song "Oi! to Nori" I thought we were only gonna play this once, but we're lazy and don't write new songs so we decided to flog the dead horse and play it again, for this song we get Nori on stage and begin the "Noriyasu *clapclapclap*" chant, because let's face it, you can't dedicate a song to a person without them being naked!
But the crowd begins changing the chant to "Noriyasu! *clapclapclap*...Connor! *clapclapclap*"

These crazy bastards wanna see my "johnson"....but being the gentleman I am I show some arse cheek instead!...anyway, enough on that...back to the music!

It was time for our last song, We chose a song everybody liked, "Police Story" by The Partisans
Everyone sings along and we're happy, good gig, let's go relax now
But no, the crowd wouldn't let us leave, a bunch of people start shouting "one more song!!"
We have no more songs, but we all know Oi! Power by Discocks as we pissed about playing it in practice, So Oi! power it was!
Everyone starts pogoing and going crazy and singing along! including Nakachin and Hiroichi from Discocks! at this point I nearly cry because i'm too happy, so we'll leave it there! haha

After the show we head to bar to talk shit to people
Punk Photographer Iwa comes up to me to hand me something, a photobook he made of Injections photos from last time, this was a super nice gift again I nearly cry

a few minutes later Teruaki calls me over and he presents me and Kenta with a cake with our faces on and big "18" candles!
this is totally the best birthday cake ever made
and being the emotional cry baby punks we are, we nearly cry again, fuck sake!

I guess I don't really know what to say about the rest of the night, so here's a pic

After the gig/party we head out
Melvin goes with Nori and a few others to somewhere?....We still don't know where, or what happened which is probably for the best
W.H.I.T.I.S.I.T.I!!

I go to catch the last train on my own only to be greatest by the worlds punkest train
Seriously, Ramones - Subterranean Jungle had nothing on this!
I'm greeted by Naohiro, Nakachin, Kentaro, Meguro and a bunch others

Nothing exciting happened to me after this, ask Melvin for fun stories but he probably won't remember

That's all I have to say really, the day after was fucking crazy but W.H.I.T.I.S.I.T.I!

Tokyo is my favourite place in the world, going there and hanging out with my friends for a week is so much better that shitty work, and boring "daily life"
I could get all nostalgic and listen to "Better Days" by The Bubbles in an attempt to relive it but I won't get all cheesy on you

I'm now back at work and it fucking sucks compared, I actually don't mind my job either, but it's nothing on Tokyo

I seriously cannot wait for the next time i'm there

But the next Injections adventure is our Ottawa to NYC attack!

ありがとう Japan Punks! Part 1!

Last night I returned from Japan for the 3rd time

Everytime I go i'm reminded of why I love that place
the bands, people, culture, food, girls!...I would go back tomorrow

I arrived at Narita airport earlier than expected I try to catch the Narita express train but I found out it had been cancelled and wouldn't be running for another 2 hours instead I get a local train which takes an hour and a half but it's alot quicker than the bus at rush hour
After checking into the hotel and walking around to Shinjuku for a while I head to Killers in Shimokitazawa to meet up with Teruaki, Macky and Baby Love we exchange gifts and generally catch up with what we have been up to since the last time we met, last time we met Love (their baby) hated me and cried everytime she seen me, but this time we had made a truce as I gave her a stuffed Rabbit teddy and she gave me candy!

I return to Shinjuku to meet up with Melvin (Injections guitarist for this trip) who has been waiting around for a while because he caught an early train, I take him to his hotel in Ni-Chome (the gay part of Kabukicho) the fact he was staying in Ni-Chome was funny to everyone it almost became a running gag for the trip!
After a few hours of walking around we head back to our hotels for some well deserved rest

Day 2 of the trip i'm woken up by Melvin banging on my door like he's the police
After I get ready I take him to various Record shops around Tokyo where we blow so much money but it's worth it. I take him to Killers again to meet up with Teruaki and his family and to show him the shop, again he blows so much money on shirts and records!

While we're there Pon from Laughin' Nose comes to drop off some Oi! of Japan 2 posters

as soon as he see's us he recognizes us as The Injections!...Wait a minute? I had to pinch myself....How the hell does he know us? Did we land in a parallel universe?...it was surreal and made us both super happy

At 9:40 we had to meet Kentaro at Shinjuku station for Injections practice
On the way to the studio we bump into Akira and Kenta (Vendetta)...Kenta joins us for the practice, we run though the 5 songs which went surprisingly well we also pissed around for a while with Spiky Joys, Discocks and Tom & Boot Boys covers

Day 3 : Today is the day we head to Nagoya for Folkeiis organizising first show
At 10am we get the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagoya, the Shinkansen is the bullet train! I would comment on the journey but I slept for most of it (SLEEP IS POWER!!)
We arrive at Nagoya around 1pm where we are meeting Koichiro (-REJECT-)...After waiting around for a while we call him to find out he's on his way from home, to kill time we check out all the sexy girls in Nagoya station (time flies when you're having fun)....Around 2 Koichiro arrives and we head to some punk stores in his car, on the way we listen to Rough Stuff (who's album is fantastic)

We soon land at Record Shop Answer where again we blow so much money (some records I scored are Dust Noise 2 7" , Chaos CH 2nd 7" and Swankys - Five Star 7" )
Melvin picks up many records he wants and he ends up bankrupt of yen! luckily the staff at Answer change his US Dollars for yen and the spending spree begins again
After visits to Record Shop Zoo, and Banana Records we meet up with Crunch and head to Huck Finn

As we pull up to Huck Finn outside theres a gathering of Punks that would make any crusty noise lover cream their black Gloom patched jeans, Members of D-Clone, System Fucker, Attack SS, Folkeiis greet us
Me being the fanboy I am tell them how much I love their bands over and over they all just laugh then proceed to tell me I look like Kosuke (Drunk Boi!s)....Honestly now? Do I? haha
We head inside to the show, Hiroshi (D-Clone) gets us in for $5 which makes this show even better...I mean D-Clone, Folkeiis, Zyanose, Acrostix, Last Sentance..for $5!?!?!
BARGAIN OF THE CENTURY!!

I only caught the arse end of the first band so I won't give a write up.
But next is the mighty D-Clone!
I was super excited for these as they're the most exciting D-Beat band for years
They honestly destroyed the place, people were going crazy for them...So many drunken stagedives and punks screaming "We make next generation!!"....
If you go to Chaos in Tejas and miss this band you're a fucking idiot!!

Next up was Last Sentance, whose singer was totally hammered by the time they got on (even though they were the third band on) but it was all good fun, literally 10 seconds on he was falling into the amps knocking everything over, this only made people go more crazy
I asked why they had changed singer (you'll remember them being a female fronted band who put out an amazing 7" )
Turns out the new singer is the boyfriend of the old singer, the old singer left because she's pregnant with their baby, so "omedetou!!" to them!
Now was time for Acrostix! I really enjoyed their footage on Chaos Punks Magazine Vol.2 DVD and latest album "Dear Daily Life" so I was expecting a good show, they totally lived up to my expectations
By now everyone was craving some cheap drinks so we all head to a nearby supermarket where I witnessed one of the most surreal scenes of my life!
a queue of old women, casual shoppers..and Punks!!

Yuta found out it was my birthday 2 days before so being the gentleman he is he bought me a Fanta (incase you didn't know I was No Drinking Pogo Punx!!) hahaha

We head back to Huck Finn in time for Zyanose who made sure if you didn't have a headache by now, you would after their set!
For those who don't know Zyanose they are one of if not the noisiest band in Japan
they have 2 basses and no guitars. One bass provides some nice basslines, the other total static ear piercing noise, I could literally not hear any notes Sakana was playing

The final band of the night was the great Folkeiis!
This band is one of my favourite new bands from Japan, their EP and songs on the Action Comps just rip
Kind of Kaaos meets Gloom, Noise references aren't my strong point as you can probably tell, So buy their EP "Hell Kaaos Night" to find out how awesome this band is

After the show we hang around outside for a while and talk to some punks before we head off in Koichiro's car for food,
(Koichiro's Riot City Number plate!!)

We go to some cheap Japanese place where Melvin eats Katsudon and Koichiro eats Natto (Fermented beans)

Beans Monster!!

Rice Monster!!

After eating we drive to Crunch's house, out of all the houses in the apartment block we all knew Crunch's due to the huge Sex Pistols flag on the door
Inside like all Japanese homes, it's small...his bedroom/living room was filled with records, CDs, Manga and Snoopy Memorabilia
He shows us his record collection which includes Sieg Heil LP (which I need yo!)

We listen to Fuck Geez and Koichiro and Crunch begin asking me about the UK bands i've saw
"Have you seen Uproar?"..."yes"
"Have you seen Vice Squad?"..."yes"
"Have you seen Threats?"..."yes"

They tell me how enviable they were, but I would be enviable of all the Japanese bands they've seen, Maybe we should switch lives?
By this time we're all fucking tired so we head for bed, which is where we are sitting, but lying down!
When we wake up Crunch makes us miso soup and we leave for Nagoya station
We have to catch an early train as we have to be at Zone-B in Tokyo for 2pm this day!
After arriving at Nagoya station we have 15 minutes to kill
So we walk to Nana! a giant statue of a girl near Nagoya station
Koichiro continues to get under her legs in search for some giant omanko!
A bunch of school girls nearby blush and giggle at him before we gotta get the train

We get back just in time and we say our goodbyes before heading back to Tokyo

So after a whole bunch of shit going down we didn't finish our recording in time for the Japan tape as Kimchi'77 has now gone to Korea

But have no fear as i've found Wanky Claus huffing glue round the back of the shops and Suki was spotted at a recent Discharge gig and both were brought back into the band in the hopes of recording our previously live only hit "Anarchy in 下北沢 KILLERS" in time for the Japan tape....you may recognize these two from the Christmas Attack!! Download that was due to get Christmas No.1 in UK but was withdrawn because of the "disgraceful" lyrics

On another note, the Japan schedule looks like this

So I moved house again, meaning no internet and generally no time to do anything

Anyway, so this past few days I have moved house again...hopefully this is a little more permanent then my last house

Inbetween the chaos of moving boxes of records and CDs and bags of clothes I of course found time to listen to this...

...I fucking love Hygiene, in a slightly stalker way

So Paco (La vida es un mus) put out this LP and I ordered is straight away

Hygiene has this amazing ability to be the most boring band in the world but still be great

I saw them live in January and decided they were one of my favourite bands in the UK right now

Think of a mix of Crisis, Last Resort, those wierd one EP bands on comps from the late 70s and early Fall 7"s with vocals that sometimes sound as if they're all going through puberty and their voices are breaking

And possibly the best part of this band is the fact their singer's hair looks like a beanie hat made of hair (not a shit indie floppy beanie)

So as i'm sure you've all heard there has been a huge Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan, having friends out there I was especially worried when I heard this, thankfully my friends are OK but some people were not so lucky,

After shocks are still happening and the risk of Nuclear Power plants causing radiation and a meltdown means this situation still not over

We hope for the best.

I am thinking of putting together something to collect donations to the Red Cross relief effort in Japan, maybe a comp CD, But I'm not sure

The Glash - Natural Born Punks EP

So I just got this EP,

From an unknown band "THE GLASH"...I mean, just listen to the name how could I not get this?

According to some Japanese friends the band was a joke band that only released this 7" and the members were spotted at various Discocks and Tom And Boot Boys gigs in the 90's

Musically this is a lo-fi and terribly played but that makes it all the better, right?
I would compare this to a mix of Discocks, Tom, Shuffle, Cannons etc....typical late 80's to early 90's Japanese Oi! done totally the right/wrong way!

Just got back from Leicester with Jack

We went to the free afternoon gig

with Toecutter, Hygiene and Shitty Limits

At the station...

This band played fast brutal hardcore, I think the so called "hardcore" bands from my town aim to sound like this, their drummer was great, it looked like he was having a fit...in a good way! Their bassist Fran also plays bass for FUK

I love this band, totally inept, badly played, badly sang post punk....stipped down to the bare minimum their new EP Recruitment is out now...go buy it!

Shitty Limits
Another awesome band, I saw these at Means to an End, Shitty Limits play early 80's style hardcore with 60's garage and 70's punk influence....believe it!
They played a cover of Stab your Back by The Damned, it had nothing on the Chaotic Dischord cover, but was still awesome
Their drummer cut his hand open and smeared the blood on himself and was

dubbed GG Allin from then on, they then played a special song called "Macaulay Culkin doing a shit" just because the crowd shouted these words

The gig ended at 5:30 and I got home at 7!

Today I got screen printing equipment from Skewis (B-Movie Britz)

The equipment is used....but it was free!

2 years ago Skewis and Ross (The Black Hills) went into school and stole the equipment haha

But now it's mine, so soon I will start making t-shirts!!
Both screens,I'll use the smaller one for shirts, maybe bigger one can fit 2 designs on

Smaller compared to LP
I got hallogen light, for exposing screens.....Only £10...it was cheap!
Squeegee...
And for test print I got some ink....

First shirts printed will be limited to 10 Injections shirts
